and horse related activities for the purpose of
positively contributing to the physical,
cognitive, emotional and often social
well-being of individuals with disabilities
and/or special needs. Horse Groom ProgramGood jobs with good wages are available to people with the right training. Employers of the horse industry are eager to hire skilled and knowledgeable workers. The Horse Groom 600-H is an official apprenticeship program approved by The Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities. Enjoy the respect and reward of a skilled trades person. I CAN-T.E.R. is an officially approved Training and Delivery Agency (T.D.A) for the Ontario Horse Groom Apprenticeship program. The mandatory in-school portion of the apprenticeship program can be obtained at I CAN-T.E.R. (402 hrs in-class). The remainder of the apprenticeship hours are to be completed while working within the horse industry under the guidance of a qualified employer. (3600 hrs on-the-job) Ontario has an enormous horse industry covering various areas, including Thoroughbred, Quarter Horse and Standardbred racing, as well as a variety of quality establishments such as riding, breeding, driving, showing and much more! All of these areas require skilled individuals to meet the growing demands of this fast paced industry, that now has many approved and recognized standards in place, emphasizing safety for both horse and handler. School and Group ProgramsWith everything from farm animals lessons, gardening and nature to all kinds of horse related activities, the I CAN-T.E.R. School Trip and Group Program is designed with flexibility in mind to either reinforce classroom material or to teach and introduce a new topic. Teachers may choose from a variety of program options according to the needs of their class. The program strives to achieve the following goals:
Seniors Day Program Many Program Options Birdwatching/Nature Activities - Seniors can choose from a variety of birdwatching locations on the farm. Farm Visit- Seniors will take a tour of our unique farm and have the opportunity of spending time with our various animals such as horses and grooming them, and other farm animals, such as sheep, goat, bunnies, chicks, dogs, cat & more. Gardening - We have a large garden full of various plants & vegetables as well as a small greenhouse for growing prep. As part of their visit to the farm seniors also have the option of enjoying a picnic lunch or camp fire. Other activites can be added according to your group's need. Pony School ~Currently limited program~

place for you! Pony School is a
weekly program where kids can
learn the various aspects of pony
ownership and learn riding
skills. This program emphasizes barn safety as well as safety around
horses & ponies. Pony School is for able-bodied kids from 8 to 13 years. Adult Horsemanship Program~Currently limited prorgam~ This program is reserved for adults wanting to learn more about horses & their care. Riding can be a part of this program as well as many horse health topics. Birthday Parties~Currently limited program~ Experience the Best Birthday Party Ever!
